An official Empire State competition sanctioned by New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo, citing New York pride in its place as the site of events that highlight the state and its tradition of excellence in offering unique foods and specialty dishes often based upon tried and true recipes that have endured through the generations.
One of the most loved events in the Capital Region, the Troy Pig Out is a full day of fun where culinary competitors duke it out for best BBQ, and people flock to Riverfront park to taste some of the area’s best food.

We are recruiting Barbeque enthusiasts to compete and judge in this year's competition!
Hot Dog Eating Contest
Hembold's and Famous Lunch invite you to partake in the Annual Troy Pig Out Hot Dog eating contest this year!! We will offer two contests throughout the day, at 12:30pm and 4:00pm open for 4 contestants each!!
Contestants must be 18 years or older to enter.
All contestants must be registered and checked in 30 minutes prior to the competition start time. Check in will be located at the info tent near the entrance to Front Street. The objective is to eat as many hot dogs and buns with water as the only beverage. Water will be provided to all contestants
Dinosaur BBQ People's Choice Awards
Your favorite Dinosaur BBQ People’s Choice Awards are back this year with $2 pork rib tickets. Tickets can be purchased at the information tent located at the entrance of Front Street, starting at 3:00pm and can be redeemed between 5:00pm and 6:30pm at any of the participating competitor booths. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite pork ribs, return your vote to the information booth by 7:00pm!!
Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded at 7:45pm on stage. The winners of the Troy Pig Out BBQ competition will be announced including best pulled pork, best beef brisket, best pork ribs, best BBQ chicken, the Dinosaur BBQ People’s Choice award winner, Mayor’s Choice, and the Grand Champion.
COLLAR CITY CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT
Do you love Cornhole? Join the competition at Troy Pig Out this year!! Founded in the Midwest, cornhole is the backyard game now taking the East Coast by Storm. With multiple single elimination tournaments throughout the day, you're bound to win a prize, and it's FREE!
Tournaments will take place at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm.
Pre-register, or sign up at Troy Pig Out! 4 Courts will be available per tournament.

Parking in the Central Business District is limited to two (2) hours from 9:00am-5:00pm and four (4) hours in the areas designated by metered pay stations. There are also approximately 1,000 parking spots in the City’s 7 parking garages located on Fifth Avenue & Broadway, First Street next to the YWCA, Congress Street & Fifth Avenue, Front Street behind The Arts Center, State & River Streets, and River Street next to the Green Island Bridge. Parking is free on nights and weekends in City of Troy parking garages and lots. A map of the available parking locations can be found here.

All attendees should be prepared to present age identification at any time and wear BID-provided identifying bracelet at all times within event grounds if they intend to consume alcohol. Any attendee caught by security personnel consuming alcohol without a bracelet will be escorted out of the event area.
